Elder statesman and First Republic politician, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, has lauded Nigerians for their continued support and prayers for the success of the Tinubu administration.
Yakasai, a former adviser to the late President Shehu Shagari, spoke to reporters in Kano city on Sunday, while expressing deep condolences to the families of the late Chief Ayo Adebanjo and the late Chief Edwin Clark and the entire people of the Southwest and South-South regions over the death of the two great Nigerians, whom he disclosed were his political associates and personal friends.
He said the steady progress and concrete achievements recorded by President Bola Tinubu have vindicated the trust reposed in the administration by the majority of Nigerians.
According to the elder statesman, the reduction in prices of fuel and essential food items has not only vindicated him and supporters of the Tinubu administration, but pointed to the fact that things were going to get stabilised and better with time.
He said: “From some of the reports I have received, the prices of basic foodstuff have been coming down. Unlike what it was before now, families can now afford to buy basic food items such as rice, beans, maize and sorghum needed to feed their families.
“I was also made to understand that the cost of petrol at filling stations has been coming down. In some places, I was told that they now sell petrol for about N8,50 per litre, instead of N1,150k or N N1,200k in the recent past. This is good for the cost of transportation and movement of Nigerians from place to place.”
Yakasai, a strong supporter of Bola Tinubu for the 2023 and 2027 presidential projects, urged northerners to support the present administration, as he explained that the North was not left out in the scheme of things under President Tinubu.
According to Yakasai, the best of the Tinubu administration was yet to come, as he said, the government has lined up so many developmental projects and people-friendly policies and programmes for the benefit of Nigerians and the North inclusive.
He enjoined Nigerians, especially the political class, to continue to contribute their quota to good governance, through informed criticisms and well-placed political engagements, all of which he added would strengthen the nation’s democracy and enrich democratic processes.
