The Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals complex has been the MOST CHALLENGING case for Nigeria

A case of water water everywhere but not a drop to drink. The idea was wonderful; though could have been better refined in engineering design but still scores first class marks of >70%. The most serious challenges are: 1) PROCUREMENT – that the relatively simple skills required for the design, together with materials of construction were not available domestically, on required specification standard; 2) INFRASTRUCTURE to transport the products it domestic market is not available; 3) INDUSTRY to transform basic products to finished goods domestically are not available. It is much easier for the system to export to foreign maritime corridor markets than otherwise!

While the conception and implementation of the system were ongoing critical domestic stakeholders were slumbering!
